Full of symbolism, this book can be applied to each of us individually. Uplifting, creative, and entertaining.
This book highlights the journey of four children, destined for greatness, as they enter into another world with dangers, challenges, and choices that parallel their own world. There is a Christian theme you can choose to interpret this way in regards to the battle of good vs. evil.
Lucy steps into the Professor's wardrobe - but steps out again into a snowy forest. She's stumbled upon the magical world of Narnia, land of unicorns, centaurs, fauns... and the wicked White Witch, who terrorises all. Lucy soon realises that Narnia, and in particular Aslan, the great Lion, needs her help if the country's creatures are ever going to be free again...
This is an epic story that proves that small and simple acts can bring about miracles. The way the book is symbolically written makes it timeless and relatable to all eras and generations.
In this tale all the characters must face and discover who they really are and their purpose and their intentions. Each of the characters are motivated by different factors as they journey together to destroy the one ring which contains the essence of evil.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell by chance into the hands of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
I love this book because of the emphasis it places on friendships. Without friendships with many different kinds of people the main character would have failed. Harry had friends of all ages, skills, and personalities. The characters were multidimensional and care was taken to make each person unique. This is also a story of growth. We all feel like the kid shoved away under the stairs in the cupboard (rejected and repressed). But it also shows how we can grow step by step, overcoming obstacles.
In this book an orphaned boy, who lives with his abusive relatives, discovers secrets about his parent's death and his identity as a person of magic. He enters a school with many other magical children where he must learn to use his gifts, build a support system, and discover more about his past in order to defeat a dark lord and his evil force from destroying the world.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping…
What I love about this book is the positive message the author sends through this story. It has all the right elements of good storytelling in a balanced way. This is a book that is clean and appropriate for teens and pre-teens and one they would also enjoy. The author added in the perfect amount of romance and action without having sex, profanity, or extreme violence or even using these things for the character to get her way. That is real talent there for you. The book also follows the age-old and proven writing method of the hero’s story starting with the reluctant hero who has experienced tragedy and then (although young) she transforms into the queen she was meant to be. I also appreciate that there wasn’t a gender struggle as is very overused in entertainment, but that the author showed both strong men and women working together.
The king and queen are dead, murdered by one who will stop at nothing to rule. But the young princess―Rosemund―has survived, spirited deep into the forest by her parents' most trusted advisor. There, she finds refuge in a small cottage and a new life, one in which she must play a role that will ensure her survival. Soldiers are combing the countryside, searching for the lost princess, and they will not rest until she is found―and executed. Rosemund's strength grows as she trains for battle and endures the hardships and dangers of peasant life. When chance brings Maxwell,…
This is a clean read that I feel safe giving to one of my kids and not worrying about any inappropriate content.
The author combines a perfect mix of adventure and mystery on this journey to collect keystones and save a dying world.
The stakes are high, yet one of the lessons the reader can glean is that even those who feel like they are small (compared to the problem) can do great things.
There are great lessons about friendship and hope, and how important these things are when times are tough.
One of the best things about this is that it is a series! There is a journey here to enjoy and a new world to get immersed in.
Rasann is a world in dire need. The net of magic that has held her together for eons is eroding and the magi can’t patch it fast enough to prevent disaster. Volcanoes spew, waters rise, famine and flood and desolation threaten the world as they desperately await the coming of the Wolfchild to heal their home. Three women begin quests for identity and freedom from the ties that have held them: Ember, from her overbearing and prejudice mother; Kayla, from the rigidity of the caste that has oppressed her family; C’Tan, from her dark and evil master, the Guardian S’Kotos.…
“The Watchers” are supernatural beings in human form, charged with protecting mankind from the armies of darkness. Unfortunately, some of these Watchers go bad.
Deirdra Eden’s The Watcher’s Series is written in a traditional fairytale style with a young girl’s discovery of incredible, but dangerous powers within herself, a cast of humorous sidekicks, a quest for greater self-discovery, and purpose, and villains of epic proportions.
In England, 1270 A.D., Auriella flees her village after being accused of witchcraft. Pursued by nightmarish creatures, she struggles to accept the truth about her humanity.
Filled with fairies, dwarves, pixies, dragons, and monsters, Knight of Light is an enthralling tale that will capture the imaginations of readers young and old.
When King Priam's pregnant daughter was fleeing the sack of Troy, Stan was there. When Jesus of Nazareth was beaten and crucified, Stan was there - one crossover. He’s been a Hittite warrior, a Silk Road mercenary, a reluctant rebel in the Peasant’s Revolt of 1381, and an information peddler in the cabarets of post-war Berlin. Stan doesn't die, and he doesn't know why. And now he's being investigated for a horrific crime.
As Stan tells his story, from his origins as an Anatolian sheep farmer to his custody in a Toronto police interview room, he brings a wry, anachronistic…
